New Probability Distributions in Astrophysics: VIII. The Truncated Weibull—Pareto Distribution
نویسندگان
چکیده
We derive the truncated version of Weibull—Pareto distribution, deriving probability density function, distribution average value, rth moment about origin, media, random generation values and maximum likelihood estimator which allows three parameters. The astrophysical applications are initial mass function for stars, luminosity galaxies Sloan Digital Sky Survey, QSO photometric 2 MASS Redshift Survey.

Computability of Probability Distributions and Distribution Functions
We define the computability of probability distributions on the real line as well as that of distribution functions. Mutual relationships between the computability notion of a probability distribution and that of the corresponding distribution function are discussed. It is carried out through attempts to effectivize some classical fundamental theorems concerning probability distributions. We th...
متن کاملComments on Multiparameter Estimation in Truncated Power Series Distributions under the Stein's Loss
This comment is to show that Theorem3.3 of Dey and Chung (1991) (Multiparameter estimation intruncated power series distributions under the Stein's loss.emph{Commun. Statist.-Theory Meth.,} {bf 20}, 309-326) may giveus misleading results. Analytically and through simulation, weshow that the Theorem does not improve the given estimator.
متن کاملA Method to Expand Family of Continuous Distributions based on Truncated Distributions
Abstract: A new method to generate various family of distributions is introduced. This method introduces a new two-parameter extension of the exponential distribution to illustrate its application. Some statistical and reliability properties of the new distribution, including explicit expressions for the moments, quantiles, mode, moment generating function, mean residual lifetime, stochas...
متن کاملApplications of Bayesian Probability Theory in Astrophysics
Bayesian Inference is a powerful approach to data analysis that is based almost entirely on probability theory. In this approach, probabilities model uncertainty rather than randomness or variability. This thesis is composed of a series of papers that have been published in various astronomical journals during the years 2005-2008. The unifying thread running through the papers is the use of Bay...
